Non-Exempt Project Commotion Overview Founded in 2006, Project Commotion (PC) is a community-based organization located in the Mission District of San Francisco. Our mission is to foster healthy development in children of all abilities through purposeful movement, play, and family and community relationships. PC serves children and youth, along with their parents/caregivers, educators and interdisciplinary support teams -- strengthening inter-generational connections and community health through embodied, educational movement-based programs. Equity and empowerment is at the core of all of our work. Our programs are bilingual English/Spanish, taught in an inclusive environment where children of all abilities can flourish physically, socially and emotionally. Position Summary The MOVE Instructor is an educator and mover who brings PC's Schools on the Move program to school sites and partners in the community, and delivers on-site programming for PC Movement Classes and Camp Commotion Summer Camp. The Instructor is responsible for delivering programming, collaborating on curricula development, communications and outreach. Other key duties include parent and community partner support and collaboration, program outreach, and administration tasks. The position reports directly to the MOVE Coordinator. Qualities and Skills Project Commotion is seeking an energetic movement educator who is passionate about delivering intentional community-based movement and play programs for children, youth and families in the Mission District and beyond. You are:
A mover, with experience training and teaching in one or more movement modalities including, dance, martial arts, gymnastics, circus arts, yoga, or team sports.
A playful and intentional teacher and learner. You have experience working with young children/youth, in particular ages 3 - 6, and have a passion for supporting children with diverse needs.
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish

You will work closely with our team of movement instructors, early childhood educators and community-based partners. Responsibilities 1. MOVE & Movement Class Instructor
Curricula Development: Co-create content with teachers and coordinators for MOVE classes. Track curricula for classes.
Program Delivery: Lead and/or co-teach movement classes, virtual and in-person, according to program need and health and safety guidelines.
Administration: Document student progress, track attendance as requested by program coordinator.
Inter-Office and Partner Communications: Attend bi-weekly meetings with co-workers; communicate with program partners/teachers via email and phone as needed.
Parent Support and Communications: Assist in adult education workshops as part of comprehensive programs. Inform parents about programs through email and/or flyers. Assist with parent surveys.
Outreach and Program Enrollment: Represent PC at public events on an as-needed basis; determine regular ways to share what children are doing in school with parents, funders, and the community.
Assist with Community Move: Aid in delivery of Community Move programs: Develop/assist in development of movement curricula, tracking attendance, administering surveys, collecting and inputting data.
2. Camp Commotion Instructor
Support program lead(s) in developing and implementing curricula for Camp Commotion.
Supervise and support children on- and off-site during programming.
Maintain student records (attendance sheets, emergency forms, etc) and collaborate on student evaluations (when applicable).
Establish strong relationships with parents/caretakers, maintain open communications about student progress.
Assist with program outreach and promotion.
Position Qualification Requirements Education: AA Degree or higher, emphasis in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Youth Development, Dance, Kinesiology or Neuroscience is preferred or a minimum of five years lived/professional experience in the field. Requirements:
Current Physical Health Screening (every 2 years thereafter)
Fingerprinting Clearance (DOJ)
Current Immunizations (TB, Influenza, MMR, Pertussis) (every 2 years thereafter)
Project Commotion requires all in-person staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19; or, if they cannot receive the COVID vaccine due to disability or a sincerely held religious belief, they must show proof of a negative COVID test on a twice-monthly basis.
Complete Mandated Reporter Training (every 2 years thereafter) Current CPR & First Aid Certificate (every 2 years thereafter)
Language(s): Bilingual, bi-literate preferred; English/Spanish.
Schedule, Pay and Benefits Work Schedule 20 hours weekly to start with potential to grow into a 3⁄4 or full time position according to organizational needs such as number of partnerships/contracts. Requires blended remote/in-person according to program adaptations in COVID response time. Some weekend and evening shifts are required, according to event, meeting and outreach schedules.
