Position Summary:
Cheza Nami is seeking a dynamic and culturally competent Executive Director to lead the organization into its next phase of growth and impact. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and charismatic leader with a passion for cultural education and community engagement, particularly within African and diasporic communities. This part-time position requires a leader who can enhance the visibility, financial stability, and community impact of Cheza Nami.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a strategic plan that aligns with Cheza Nami’s mission and goals, with a particular focus on expanding cultural and educational programming.
Provide visionary leadership to the organization, fostering a culture of innovation, inclusion, and excellence.
Fundraising and Financial Management:
Lead diverse fundraising efforts, including grants, individual donations, corporate partnerships, and digital campaigns to ensure financial sustainability.
Oversee budget planning, financial management, and reporting to ensure the effective use of resources.
Program Development and Management:
Oversee the development and execution of culturally relevant educational and outreach programs, ensuring they meet the needs of the community and align with the organization’s mission.
Foster relationships with local African diasporic communities to deepen engagement and program participation.
Community and Public Relations:
Serve as the primary spokesperson for Cheza Nami, building and maintaining relationships with community partners, donors, and the media.
Expand the organization’s reach and visibility through strategic partnerships, marketing, and public relations efforts.
Board Governance:
Work closely with the Board of Directors to fulfill the organization’s mission, including supporting the development of board members.
Attend board meetings and provide regular updates on organizational progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Qualifications:
– Proven experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit organization, preferably with a focus on cultural education or community engagement.
– Strong cultural competency, with experience working in or with African and diasporic communities.
– Demonstrated success in fundraising, including grant writing, corporate partnerships, and digital campaigns.
– Excellent financial management skills, including budgeting and reporting.
– Exceptional communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
– A dynamic, charismatic, and collaborative leadership style that inspires and motivates staff, volunteers, and the community.
– Knowledge of or connections within the local community, particularly within African diasporic communities in California, is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Advanced degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
– Experience in marketing, public relations, or social media management.
