Marin Shakespeare Company is seeking talented, dynamic theatre teaching artists for our in-school and after-school Play Power Creative Dramatics programs for the 2022-23 school year!
Play Power is a standards-based creative dramatics program for grades K-5 at San Rafael City Schools and other Marin districts. Students will work with professional theatre teaching artists to learn focus, self-expression, problem-solving, and communication skills, and build confidence using their voices, bodies, and imaginations to tell stories. Social Emotional Learning and ELA competency are at the forefront as teaching artists guide students in imaginative play, structured exercises, and working with grade-level appropriate texts and stories.
Applicants should have experience teaching K-5 students, weekday daytime (8-3), and/or after school (3-5:30) availability starting in September, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to schools in San Rafael/ Marin. Experience teaching theatre, language arts, or creative drama to this age group is preferred. Experience working with English Language Learners is a plus. Proof of COVID vaccination, background check, TB Screening, and fingerprinting are required. Currently, masks are recommended but may be required if transmission rates increase. Curriculum and paid training are provided.
Most sessions run 5-8 weeks, depending on the school’s schedule and needs, and MSC does our best to schedule back-to-back 30-45 minute classes to maximize teaching artists’ prep and transportation time. Programs may be paused due to an increase in COVID transmission rates at schools.
