Kala Art Institute in Berkeley is seeking artists to teach adult classes in our printmaking studio and community classroom! While we primarily focus on printmaking, we are open to all mediums and methods of making.* Past classes have included Cyanotype, Figure Drawing, Screenprinting on Textiles, Digital Photography, Mokuhanga (Japanese Woodcut), Intro to Adobe Photoshop, Book Arts, and much more.
Classes can be one-day intensives or up to four sessions. Technique-based, project-based, and conceptual classes are all welcome. The information for Teaching at Kala can be found here, including links to the three forms we ask artists to fill out when proposing a class. In addition to our printmaking studio (equipped for screenprinting, lithograpy, intaglio, and letterpress), we have a beautiful, spacious community classroom next to our gallery, a dark room, and a digital media lab at the back of the studio.
Teaching artists are independent contractors and start out at $35/hour, with a 25% discount towards any Kala class.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions!
*We do not have a ceramics facility, though we may be able to host sculptural workshops depending on space and material needs.
