As a fashion instructor for teenagers at Youth Art Exchange, Sierra Reading wants to make sure her students understand that they have the power to drive the fashion industry. She helped here students work together to design a backpack that would serve their needs. You can vote for their "West Coast Rucksack" design to be made - and please do. Sierra Reading is the fashion design instructor at Youth Art Exchange in San Francisco. Within her four years teaching at YAX, she has designed and built the fashion program from the ground up. She received her BFA from the California College of the Arts in textiles and is currently working toward her MA in Art Education through the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work focuses on traditional textile processes that create scenarios in which participants connect to materials as a way to connect with one another.
