StageWrite is Hiring Theatre Teaching Artists! StageWrite: Building Literacy Through Theatre www.stagewrite.org(http://www.stagewrite.org) StageWrite empowers youth to become actively engaged in their education and passionate about learning through the theatre arts. We employ dramatic activities to involve young people in reading, writing, speaking, and listening as a holistic and meaningful communication process. Through the communal art of theatre, young people build skills in creative expression, collaboration and critical thinking: all necessary components of becoming literate and engaged members of an equitable society.  We serve San Francisco public elementary schools during the school day.  ELEMENTARY PROGRAM (PRE-K TO 5TH GRADE)  TEACHING ARTISTS StageWrite seeks Teaching Artists to teach drama residencies in San Francisco public elementary schools. We are looking for candidates with the following preferred qualifications:  •  2+ years experience teaching drama in urban elementary school settings  • Strong classroom management skills • Familiarity with early childhood literacy  • Dedication to culturally-responsive teaching practices • Experience supporting students impacted by trauma StageWrite is hiring teaching artists for the following programs: • Room-a-Rama: Community through Drama (Grades PreK – 5th): Ideal candidate has experience with improvisation, storytelling, and the use of drama as a tool for social-emotional learning. • ADAPTS  (Autism & Drama with Artists, Parents, Teachers, and Students): Ideal candidate has experience and passion for working in arts education with neurodiverse populations. • Playwriting: Ideal candidate has experience with playwriting and supporting students with creative writing and performing monologues and plays. TRAINING PROGRAM FOR EMERGING TEACHING ARTISTS StageWrite offers paid experiential training to theatre artists who would like to build a teaching practice. Compensation:  We have several opportunities ranging from those new to teaching to those with significant experience who can mentor new Teaching Artists. Compensation ranges from $25-$55/hr based on position and prior teaching artist experience. StageWrite Teaching Artists are part-time, seasonal employees, ranging 3-10 hours weekly during the school year. To best serve our partner communities, StageWrite values the diversity of our teaching artist staff, placing artists in classroom residencies where they share a common language, race-based affinity, or lived experiences with the students. Job Summary Working with the Executive Director and Administrative Manager, the Programs Coordinator will be a new and central position acting as a liaison between school programs, community events, and the administration of our mid-sized arts education organization. Key job components will be partnering with schools, managing teaching artists, and coordinating all aspects of programming, including innovating and implementing structures and systems to expand the organization's reach.  This position can be performed in conjunction with a Teaching Artist role for those with both theatre arts teaching and program administration experience. Essential Duties SCHOOL RESIDENCY COORDINATION Scheduling (programs at school sites, meetings, training workshops, etc.) Teaching Artist recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes Coordinating school site contracts with SFUSD Preparing residency materials (props and costumes, teaching tools, etc.) Generating documents, forms, surveys, and slide decks for workshops Documentation of residency work (photos, videos, anecdotal records, observations of programming) Facilitating communication with all stakeholders (teaching artists, educators, and administrators) Coordinating community events, performances, and special projects as needed Coordinating professional development workshops and meetings  Coordinating and disaggregating program evaluations, assessments, and online surveys FINANCE/FUNDRAISING  Reviewing artistic staff timesheets twice monthly  Coordinating budget setting with Executive Director and Administrative Manager Assisting with grant writing and reporting  Researching funding opportunities Coordinate fundraising initiatives (individual donor program and events) MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS Coordinating creation of marketing materials, including managing social media channels and updating the website to keep current with organizational activity Spearhead initiatives for creating content for our upcoming newsletter  Preparing slideshow presentation materials (for training, conferences, reports, etc.) Seeking opportunities for contributing to arts and education publications  ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT Developing systems for file sharing, documentation archiving, and other administrative functions using Google Suite  Assisting Executive Director with strategic plan review and progress Organizing Advisory Board meetings Being proactively involved with arts education advocacy partnerships Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education, theatre, nonprofit management, or related field or equivalent experience Minimum of three years of work experience in a relevant area such as business administration, finance, nonprofit administration, elementary education, or work that centers on social justice and the arts. Ideal candidate has experience in the arts education non-profit field. Excellent administrative skills, including strong proficiency with Google Suite Experience and commitment to working with under-resourced youth Outstanding organizational ability, attention to detail, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills Strong time management skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and to work with minimal supervision Stellar writing, speaking, communication and presentation skills are necessary Passion for social justice and understanding the power of arts integration in education is crucial Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and collaborative work community Ability to travel to San Francisco public schools 1-2 days per week A good sense of humor and a love of creative brainstorming is greatly appreciated and valued Compensation & Hours:  This part-time, hybrid position will include remote work and in-person visits to StageWrite partner elementary schools in San Francisco.  Approximately 10-20 hours per week @ $25/hour.
