Teaching Artist Lead Teaching Artist Pay Rate: $30/hour Assistant Teaching Artist Pay Rate: $21/hour Prep stipend and administrative pay for both Leads and Assistants Hours vary by school site and program About the Position Town Hall Education is hiring Teaching Artists for onsite classes and offsite in- and after-school programming. Town Hall Education is the education department at Town Hall Theatre Company in Lafayette. THEd is a process-based program committed to serving students from preschool age through adulthood. Our core values lie in student empowerment and building connection, empathy, trust, and collaboration. We believe all of these lessons can be learned through theatre education and applied in everyday life. Teaching Artists report to the Director of Education. Main Duties Create and implement a lesson plan that meets age appropriate goals and developmental milestones. Lead a safe, inclusive, and process-based classroom built to create learning opportunities that specifically draw upon the Developmental Focus outlined for their program’s production. Participate in Professional Development and Staff DEIJ Trainings (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) throughout the year. Attend any and all production meetings arranged by the Director of Education. Maintain positive parent-teacher relationships. Experience Lead Teaching Artists: Minimum 2 years experience teaching children aged pre-k through high school. Experience and/or current practice in one or more of the following disciplines: theatre; playwriting; directing; vocal and instrumental performance; dance or movement performance; set, costume, or lighting design. Assistant Teaching Artists: No previous experience required except a passion for youth education. Interest and/or current practice in one or more of the following disciplines: theatre; playwriting; directing; vocal and instrumental performance; dance or movement performance; set, costume, or lighting design.
