Performing & Visual Arts instructors, During-school: Starting Arts is looking for experienced and enthusiastic Movement, Music, Theatre and Visual Art instructors to work in our during-school arts education programs in the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. Ideal candidates are comfortable working with students in grades TK-8th grade.  Teaching experience is required, however, a teacher credential is not required.    This is a part-time independent contractor position. Commuting is required therefore reliable transportation is necessary. Artists work between 2-5 days per week, providing flexibility with additional work or academic schedules.  Our next during school rotation begins in October with on boarding and mentor opportunities beginning immediately. Required Qualifications - A successful candidate has: •  Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preferably with groups of 20 or more students • Understanding of California Visual and Performing Arts Standards (VAPA) •  Experience creating and implementing lesson plans • Clear communication skills; ability to respond to emails with SA program directors and school administration in a timely manner • Ability to demonstrate instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of all learners  • Experience in teaching neurodivergent and physically challenged students is a plus • Ability to organize age appropriate activities for the purpose of ensuring student engagement and participation • Ability to manage student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment • Lesson plans that support equity, inclusion and diversity • Dependable means of transportation • Full Covid vaccination (including booster) • Proof of TB test We are also looking for someone who is: • Punctual, organized, and adaptable to classroom environments • A diplomatic, clear, and effective communicator and has the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively • Knowledgeable of south bay traffic patterns and has reliable transportation.   Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to prepare a sample lesson for an elementary aged group of students (grade of your choice), including lesson goals, and specific skills the students are building. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
