We are seeking local Teaching Artists who are experienced working with students from grades TK-12 , to teach at one of our partnering sites. Teaching opportunities available immediately for Musicians and visual artists. We hire passionate musicians and artists who believe in the power of music, art, culture, and its transformative effects in a student’s life and the world. CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES Music First! At St. Finn Barr Catholic School- Musician with Early Childhood Education experience needed Where: San Francisco, CA Starts: ASAP Ends: May 31, 2022 Schedule: Once a week for a total of 2 hours depending on Artists availability: Mornings 8:30am-1am or Afternoons 12-2:30pm 30 Minute Lessons: We use our Music First! Curriculum Grades: K, 1st, 2nd grade: Once class each grade level Compensation: $35 per 30 minute lesson with additional prep pay paid at $25 an hour. Our Music First! Program is a curriculum that has been developed by artists of many backgrounds, and experts in early childhood education. Our teaching artists each bring their unique talents and artistry, to present our curriculum to students ages 3-5. Each lesson is vibrantly written to bring joy to young children, make them feel safe, and included and celebrated with the books chosen, songs, and collaborative singing and movement activities. In a thirty minute lesson, Teaching artists engage children in song, movement, literacy, and collaborative musical instrument play with rhythm sticks for example or using their body to make music. The lesson is wrapped up with an important message about empathy, culture, and acceptance. All in all, it’s a celebration of music and culture. Music Plus! At Summit Public Schools- Visual Artist Needed Where: Summit Public School in Daly City 2 weeks and 2 weeks at K2 in El Cerrito, CA. Starts: Daly City May 2, 2022 to May 13, 2022 and K2 in El Cerrito May 16, 2022 to May 27, 2022 Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9am-3:30pm. You will teach two classes that are 2.5 hours in long. Daily Schedule: 9:00 Arrive on campus, check in, and prep 9:35-12:10PM “AM EXPEDITIONS” Class 1 12:10-12:40 LUNCH 12:45-3:20 “PM EXPEDITIONS” Class 2 Grades: High School 9th-12th Compensation: $200 per teaching day plus additional prep pay paid at $25 an hour. Our Music Plus! Program allows a celebration of arts and culture to take shape depending on our partner’s wish list. For this Music Plus! Program at Summit, Administrators have chosen a Visual Arts route. Here at Summit, our Music Plus! Program offers students with a visual arts class with a focus on illustration, portraiture, and community murals. The emphasis is social justice, uplifting community, and using art to pave the way towards better days. Our Music Plus! program allows our artists to implement their own curriculum in the classroom to teach student’s their craft. All Music Plus! classes end with a culminating event where students get to showcase their work in a community exhibit or performance. Requirements 1) One or more years experience teaching students grades TK-12 either as a volunteer or paid position. 2) Expertise in early childhood education and or willingness to receive professional development. 3) Experienced musician with the ability to sing/play instruments with students and/or experienced artist who works on their craft daily. 3) Kind, enthusiastic and encouraging attitude toward students. 4) All new hires must clear a background check (for this school district) and must have a clear TB test within the last 4 years, Covid screen, and other common vaccinations to be around young children.
