Our Organization Arts for Oakland Kids (https://artsforoaklandkids.org/organization-arts-education-programs/)(AOK) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization committed to developing funding and other resources to support arts education programs for children in under-resourced Oakland public schools.   Summary The Executive Director (ED) of Arts for Oakland Kids works with AOK’s active, volunteer Board of Directors, and reports to the Board President. The ED serves as the primary leader of all organizational operations, including administration and implementation of AOK’s fundraising, strategic planning, and grant program management. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the ED will guide the organization from impassioned philosophical beliefs centered in empathy and equity. This is a salaried .75 FTE position at $60,000. Customary work hours are 30 hours/week Monday-Friday with flexible timing. Occasional weekends/evenings for monthly Board meetings and special events are required. AOK does not have an office, so work will be conducted primarily in personal or public spaces of the ED’s choosing. Board meetings are held at an uptown Oakland location, and program visits are conducted at grantee school sites. Responsibilities General Administration (30%) • Support AOK’s all-volunteer Board of Directors, including: • Coordinate with Board of Directors in strategic planning and development • In collaboration with the Board President, prepare Board meeting agendas and attend all Board meetings; supervise preparation of the minutes by the Board Secretary • Coordinate Board Committees – help to set tasks, goals, and agendas • Coordinate with Board Treasurer to prepare monthly budget reports and an annual operational budget that reflects the Board’s fundraising goals • Monitor and authorize expenditures in accordance with approved budgets • Maintain communication and connection with Oakland Unified School District and other Bay Area arts education organizations Fundraising & Development (30%) • Manage donor relations and donor database (Network for Good) • Coordinate with contract event planner(s) and/or Board committee on ​ticket sales and sponsorships, event vendors, event entertainment, procurement of items for silent auction, registration, check-out • Prepare budget/income/expense reports for Board review in preparation for and following each fundraiser and special event • Collaborate with Board to develop new fundraising activities and special events • Coordinate with Development committee and independent Development contractor to prepare and submit applications for ongoing grants, and seek new grant opportunities • Produce and submit any required documents for grant funding received by AOK Marketing and Outreach (10%) • Serve as AOK’s primary spokesperson to promote its successes and uniqueness • In coordination with the Marketing/Outreach Committee, draft monthly newsletter, and social media outreach • Coordinate updates to the website with the website administrator • Analyze and report to the Board regarding AOK’s social media effectiveness Administration of AOK-Funded Programs (30%) • Plan and direct outreach to prospective AOK grantees • Manage annual AOK grant application process, including preparation of both internal and public online forms • Coordinate grant selection process with Board of Directors; organize and distribute grant applications for evaluation • Notify all grant applicants of status of funding after selection is complete • Distribute and collect required AOK grant documents, materials, and final reports • Maintain communication with and support for AOK grantee program administrators • Oversee AOK grantee program/project quality • Track evaluation and assessment of AOK grantee programs • Facilitate site visits • Build strong partnerships with AOK program providers and teaching artists  Candidate Qualifications and Skills Required Qualifications • A strong commitment to the mission and vision of Arts for Oakland Kids • Minimum 1 year experience in fundraising and development • Minimum 1 year experience supervising staff and volunteers • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing and overseeing organizational budgets • Proven ability to work independently, multitask, and manage several ongoing projects to meet multiple deadlines • Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills • Knowledge of and/or experience with arts education programming • Flexibility to work in a variety of environments and occasional evenings and weekends • BA/BS degree • Technical proficiency with Google Workspace (sheets, docs, slides, etc.), Quickbooks, and Adobe Acrobat Pro Preferred Qualifications • Development experience in grant writing • Experience planning large events (for 100+ people) • Robust public education experience/exposure • Masters degree • Familiarity with CRMs (AOK uses Network for Good), Wordpress, and/or InDesign a plus Compensation Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include three weeks (12 work days) paid Personal Time Off (PTO) that may be used for sick leave, vacation, and personal days, at the employee’s option.  In addition to PTO, compensation will include the following holidays: New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Cesar Chavez Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, and Thanksgiving Day..  To Apply Please submit your resume with a cover letter that includes a description of your applicable experience and interests.
